“Talking Metal” has posted its latest podcast/episode in which hosts Mark Strigl and John Ostronomy resume their countdown to one of the world’s most-anticipated albums, Guns N’ Roses’ “Chinese Democracy”. Download the podcast at this location.

“Chinese Democracy” is tentatively set for release on November 25 exclusively through Best Buy, according to RollingStone.com. The unconfirmed report came from a “vendor convention” held by Best Buy last month in Dallas, where Guns manager Andy Gould reportedly told 900 Best Buy employees the news before previewing three songs. Cellphone recordings of the event later surfaced on Guns N’ Roses fan message boards.

Gould also told the crowd that a new GN’R song called “If The World” will play under the closing credits of “Body Of Lies”, the new film starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe due out on October 10. That news was confirmed online at film web sites whose representatives had attended a press screening of the flick. “If The World” will not appear on the film’s soundtrack album.

“If The World” features the guitar work of Robin Finck and Buckethead, who have both since departed Guns N’ Roses.

Another new GN’R song, called “Shackler’s Revenge”, appears on the Rock Band 2 video game.

There has been no official confirmation of the new Guns album’s release date or Best Buy deal, although Billboard.com has also reported that the latter is nearly finalized.

“Chinese Democracy” has been more than 13 years in the making, with every original member of Guns N’ Roses except for frontman Axl Rose long since gone from the lineup.

MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine has revealed in an online posting that acclaimed British producer Andy Sneap (NEVERMORE, EXODUS, ARCH ENEMY, MACHINE HEAD) will fly over to Southern California on September 8 to “tweak some last-minute stuff” at Mustaine’s new recording studio before returning again at the end of the month, presumably to helm the recording sessions for the group’s new album.

Sneap produced MEGADETH’s last album, “United Abominations”, which came out in May 2007 via Roadrunner Records. Mustaine previously stated about working with Andy, “We’d been working with Jeff Balding, who does a great job. But we knew we needed something else to give the material that extra push, so we brought in Andy. It was cool because he isn’t like some big rock-star producer. He was just another Joe to me. So we were trading jokes and laughing and it was fun. My sense of humour is pretty close to a British one, so we worked well together. Also, Andy told me I was the reason that he got into playing metal in the first place, which was really flattering.”

MEGADETH’s forthcoming album will be the group’s first with guitarist Chris Broderick (NEVERMORE, JAG PANZER), who replaced Glen Drover at the end of last year.

Thanks for the report to Blabbermouth.net.

The wait is over. AC/DC released their new single, Rock ‘n’ Roll Train, worldwide. The song has been posted on their official MySpace page. Some people have already posted videos on YouTube containing the song. Following review taken from Blabbermouth.net:

Rolling Stone has posted a short “review” of the new AC/DC album “Black Ice”, which the magazine apparently heard during a listening session the Sony headquarters on New York’s Madison Avenue. According to the Rolling Stone, the 15-song CD, which was recorded in Vancouver in just eight weeks with producer Brendan O’Brien (Pearl Jam, Bruce Springsteen, Velvet Revolver), features AC/DC singer Brian Johnson wailing “about skies on fire, blood in his eyes, storms raging, lightning flashes, hard rain and pretty women. Angus Young [guitar] shreds throughout (we dig his slide work on ‘Decibel’), and the rhythm cats — Malcom Young [guitar], Cliff Williams [bass] and Phil Rudd [drums] — are solid as a rock. The first single is ‘Rock ‘n Roll Train’; ‘She Likes Rock ‘n Roll’ will be a stripper anthem; and ‘War Machine’ (our favorite) will tear you to pieces.”

“Black Ice” has had its release date pushed up one week, from October 28 to October 21. The record, AC/DC’s first in eight years, will be sold exclusively at Wal-Mart.

“Rock ‘n Roll Train” will arrive at radio stations August 28. A source at Harddrive Radio described it as “smoking hot. It’s AC/DC like we love them, loud, anthemic and hard!”

“Black Ice” is AC/DC’s first new studio effort since 2000’s “Stiff Upper Lip”.

The legendary rockers are slated to begin an 18-month world tour in October, with the trek reportedly kicking off on around Halloween in Chicago.

The 1977 AC/DC song “Let There Be Rock” will be featured in the new Rock Band 2 video game, due out in September. This will mark the band’s first and so far only contribution to a video game soundtrack.

Hear the song, hear the sheer awesomeness!

Richard Neesal asked:

The actual date and time of the invention of the electric guitar hasn’t ever been recognized, although it was first seen in the early 1930’s by members of orchestras and musicians. The inventors of the electric guitar at that time, who were electronically minded individuals, realized that the guitar needed to be amplified to produce louder sounds in noisy venues and to be able to be heard alongside other instruments.

The reason for this of course was due to the fact that at the time, many of the musical instruments at that time were often made of brass. With this being the case, acoustic guitars would simply not be heard in a band. This frustrated many of the musicians, because the guitar was a popular instrument and was simply being pushed out of the music place.

The version of the instrument that is best known today is the solid body electric guitar, a guitar made of solid wood, without resonating airspaces within it. The electric guitar of this type has an innovation of technology which includes a pickup of some kind that actually causes the vibration from the strings being played to sound through some kind of amplifier. Obviously, the amplifier for the electric guitar was also an issue and the earliest of these often had tubes as televisions did during that time period.

Electric guitars in history have been rather heavy due to the inner components. Over the past few decades the electric guitar has been getting lighter and lighter. The electric guitar and the components are essentially made out of not only lighter wood, but the actual pickup is smaller. This allows for a bigger sound. In fact, some of these electric guitars are even becoming digital in many different aspects of the overall design of the electric guitar.

There are many web sites dedicated to the concept of the electric guitar, and those that are sold today are reasonable and affordable. It is for this reason that so many individuals today are learning to play the electric guitar more. According to statistics the number of those individuals who play the electric guitar has increased tremendously over the past decade alone. With the history of the electric guitar so long ago, the design of the body of the electric guitar has changed too. There are many different colors for the electric guitar now.

There are also those that are considered cut-outs. Cut-outs are those electric style guitars that literally have portions of the body removed for appearance. Depending on where or what type of music the guitar is going to play will usually vary in the appearance and color of the electric guitar.

Electric guitars are found in most bands today. From classical music, rock music and other styles, to ultimately country music that often used acoustic guitars in times past. Many of the electric guitars now also have add-ons or pedals for the guitar that can essentially make the electric guitar sound like any instrument. This is a big advancement from the 1930’s when the entire idea of an electric guitar was simply so it could be heard among the other instruments in a band.

Richard Neesal asked:

Choosing the right electric guitar relies on many different factors such as the type of music that is going to be played, how often the guitar will be played and where.

For those learning to play the electric guitar, finding a good one to learn on is important, especially when knowing the fingers are going to have to toughen up a bit. And the easier the electric guitar is to play the better.

Many individuals that have played different electric guitars will tell you that not all guitars play or handle the same. For example, the strings and how hard they must be pressed have a great deal to do with the overall decision of purchasing an electric guitar.
Electric guitars can’t be simply be taken anywhere. So the location of where they are going to be played will require power of some type.

In addition, when choosing an electric guitar an individual has to take into consideration the amplifier that will be used in order to play the guitar. The guitar must sound right when it comes through the amplifier. Many electric guitars are being sold today with the option of actually purchasing the amplifier for a specific guitar. There are some electric guitars that just won’t sound right unless they are in fact sold with a certain amplifier.

There are also many band members that will tell you that in choosing the right electric guitar, weight should be a factor too. There are those brands of electric guitars that are lighter than others. There are also electric guitars on the market today designed especially for youth or young adults. In these circumstances the electric guitar is considerably lighter.

Some web sites via the Internet also have a wide assortment of different electric guitars that individuals and consumers can actually purchase via the Internet. Unfortunately, this doesn’t allow the individual to feel the weight or style of the guitar. Only the image can be seen on the web site and a description essentially given about the electric guitar.

Many of the music stores today usually have all the information an individual would need in order to choose the right electric guitar. The salespeople are usually helpful in knowing about the various electric guitars. In many stores, it is also possible for a consumer or customer to try the guitar out before the guitar is actually purchased, though this isn’t the case in all stores.

Victor Epand asked:

Plugged in music? Want to play a trendy, smart instrument? Are you in search of a perfect sound? Then electric guitar is just the thing for you.

During the era of big band, an instrument was necessary who can compete with the large volume instruments used in the jazz concerts of 30s and 40s.And that is why electric guitars were invented.

Electric guitars have a very interesting history. The string instrument makers, people who are enthusiastic about electronics and instrument manufacturers have designed it. They designed it in different combinations.

The pre historic guitar had a twang sound. Then the quest for a different sound began that led to the birth of an electric guitar, which had an amplifying horn in mid 20’s of the last century. During 1920 and 24, Lloyd Loar invented the first pick up. In 1936, mass production of electric Spanish guitar (ES 150) begun. Jazz musician Charlie Christian used to play this guitar. In the year 1943, Leo Fender created a solid body electric guitar with oak wood

In the 1950s, different kinds of electric guitars like Explorer, Flying v were invented. After these inventions, electric guitars started to fly higher. Many famous musicians, like Bob Dylan, Jimmy Hendrix, BB King, Chuck berry popularized the electric guitars.

Bands like Guns and Roses, Europe, Queen, Deep purple also popularized this instrument.

Electric guitars are very different from that of other string instruments. This is one string instrument where you can play both the lead and the rhythm portion. This is actually a type of instrument where the vibration that comes from its strings converts into electrical current. And it is being amplified, that gives a metallic tone to them.

The tones of electric guitars can be changed. To do this, you need a gazette called processor. This processor offers you different kinds of tones. You can mix two or more tones or create some of your own tones with the help of the processor. There are several other tricks also, that can be done by the electric guitar. Like, distortion, tremolo etc.

This instrument was basically associated with rock music. But as time moved on it tied its knot with several other kind of music like jazz, blues, country music, rock n roll etc. It can be said that electric guitar has become an indispensable part of the 20th century music.

The first performance with an electric guitar was during the year 1932 in Wichita, Kansas. George Barnes was the first person to use an electric guitar in recording. He was the one who recorded two songs in Chicago on 1st March, in the year 1938.

In today’s music scenario, electric guitars are gaining more and more importance. Today, we cannot imagine a music show without them. As the instrument got popular, the players also started getting noticed by the public. Even now they are so popular that we first notice the guitar player than any other musician in a music show. Electric guitars are no more under dogs, but it can be said that they are now ruling the instrumental world.

Robert Wittert asked:

When You Play The Guitar!

If you want the ultimate, amazing sounds when you are playing the guitar then no doubt about it, you have got to have an amplifier for your guitar playing experience! An amplifier will give you the guitarist, the ability to stand out more when playing for a crowd, the other instruments will not be so loud, that they totally end up drowning your sounds out. An amplifier will also allow you the ability to create some really amazing special affects when you are playing guitar, along with always having a more controlled, smooth sound, when playing the guitar. Ofcourse obviously, you will also have a tremendous amount of volume, which everyone loves. The sounds that you can create will be mind blowing, compared to playing the guitar without an amplifier.

Keep in mind when you are out shopping for the perfect amplifier that you do not need to purchase the first one that you come across and always, no matter what, try out the amplifier, before you take it home! It depends on which type of guitar you are playing as to what kind of amplifier you will be needing for your purchase. Each one may sound a little bit different. Some amplifiers may not give you a crisp, smooth, loud sounding guitar, as you are hoping for, because it may not be compatible with your guitar that you are using. Take your guitar with you, everywhere you go. Just in case you are out one day and decide to go into a music store to purchase an amplifier for your guitar. This way, you will have it with you so that you can try it out with that amplifier before you decide

on purchasing it or not.

Volume is key when you are playing the guitar, so having the correct amplifier is a must when it comes to creating those unbelievably, outrageous, loud tunes! You will know right away if the amplifier you are looking at buying is right for you or not, if when you crank it up, it begins to sound poor, like crackling or unclear, you will know to look for something different for your guitar. There will many different types of amplifiers to choose from when you are out on your search for the perfect amplifier for your guitar playing fun. Bigger is not always better when it comes to purchasing the best amplifier, you will find that many smaller amplifiers have the ability to offer you the best quality sound. You want good, quality sounding volume so that you can play your little heart out and know that everyone in the audience is enjoying themselves and what they are hearing.

Amplifiers will change your guitar playing experience completely. Once you have the wonderful experience of playing your guitar hooked up to an awesome amplifier, you will never go back to playing guitar with one. The sounds are amazing and incredibly loud, which is what every rock star wants!

Guitars are favored instruments by almost all musical performers today. Anywhere you go, you will find this instrument or one of its relatives. With the ability of creating dashing sounds or emotional undertones, the guitar is the all round choice for any music lover. Guitarists like Jimmy Hendrix and Eric Clapton brought this instrument to the masses.

The electric guitar uses an amplifier to produce louder sound. This guitar has a base and is fit for rock groups. Then there is the Spanish guitar can be played with only strumming the strings. No extra amplification is required. It is lighter in tone than the electric guitar.

1st Guitar Fret A Cool Resource for Guitars and Music

Let us now look at how we can buy a guitar. Always a safest option is to physically inspect and purchase the product from a nearby store. However if you purchase online then keep in mind the following factors. Ensure that the guitar is shipped by a reputable packing and mailing agency. These agencies will also give you the option to call them up and have them inspect your product.

Go to reputable sites and verify your retailer. If you are purchasing from a private individual, be extra careful. It is always advisable that you buy from a big store that has reputation. Remember, that the retailer has to give you a 30 day money back option. It is necessary for all retailers to do this, although unfortunately they do not all do it. You need to see how the instrument plays so if you do order online be sure that you can return it if it is no good. For any music lover can tell

you that simply playing different models of the same instruments in a store gives out different quality.

How do you become a top quality guitarist? Decide what type of guitar do you want to play. There are many types in various categories and a good choice has to be made in the beginning. To avoid confusion, select the simplest instrument first. The Spanish guitar or a simple acoustic should be fine.

Finding a good teacher is important. The teacher must have good communication skills with positive attitude. He or she must understand that guitar is not am easy instrument to learn by any means and it will take the student some time to get use to the various aspect of the instrument.

The next step of course is practice. Without proper practice and exercise, a guitarist can not develop his or her skills and muscles in the arm. This leads to pain and frustration later on. IT also reduces the playing time of a musician.

Following these simple steps can stop you from suffering a great deal while mastering the guitar once and for all.

Peter Edvinsson asked:

If you have come to the conclusion that you want to play guitar the next step will be to choose a guitar to buy. There is a variety of instruments out there at different prices. Let’s look at your choices.
What types of guitars will you find in a guitar shop?
1. The classical guitar. The classical guitar or Spanish guitar has nylon strings which produce a soft and mellow sound suitable for classical guitar music and for accompanying soft songs with finger playing.
Personally I have grown up with the Spanish guitar in my home as my father was a guitar teacher and we had a lot of guitars in our home all of them with nylon strings.
I have played a lot of styles with Spanish guitars like blues and rock music. Yes, it is possible to bend the nylon strings on a classical guitar when you play blues if you get used to it!
2. Steel-strung flat-top guitars. The steel-strung guitar is very good for strumming with a plectrum and for playing solos.
Nowadays I play steel-strung guitars a lot both with right hand fingers and with a pick. I like the crisp sound from the steel-strings. The drawbacks with this types of guitars are that they can be hard to play if the strings have too high action.
3. Electic guitars. An electric guitar has electromagnetic pickups transforming the vibrations from the strings into currents that in an guitar amplifier becomes sounds.
In this type of guitar the direct sound from the guitar is not important which makes it possible to have light gauge strings that are easy to bend. This makes it easier to play blues licks for example.
I usually play on an American Stratocaster because I like the crisp, clean sound and I can play different types of music on it. There are a lot of different types of electric guitars to choose from.
Nowadays you can find inexpensive electric guitars of good quality for example Ibanez or Yamaha guitars that are easy to play. I have a rather inexpensive Ibanez guitar that is very easy to play.
If you are a beginner wanting to start to play guitar my advice would be that you ask an accomplished guitar player to help you choose the right guitar for you. Even two guitars of the same model can differ in playability and tone.
I would also suggest that you buy your guitar in a music shop with experienced musicians and guitarists that can help you find out the best guitar for you.
I would also suggest that you buy an electronic guitar tuner to help you to always have your guitar well tuned. There is no guitar that is nice to play if it is out of tune.

Fred Peters asked:

Do you want to pick your first guitar? Picking your first guitar can be a difficult choice. There are so many guitars to choose from. Do you buy an acoustic guitar? Do you buy a classical guitar? Do you buy an electric guitar?

Buying your first guitar is an awesome experience. No instrument is cooler to play than the guitar. The guitarist is always the star of the bank. And let’s face it, chicks dig them.

It is important to know how much money you can afford to spend before you start looking for a guitar. If you go to a local guitar store without a clear budget in mind, you will continue to pull the more expensive ones off the shelf. But, for a beginning guitar player, you don’t need a really expensive one. You can probably get a good first guitar for around $300 to $500. Online you can also find some great deals on used beginner guitars.

Guitars have a beautiful sound and are a lot easier to learn how to play than most think possible. However, before you go out to buy one you need to know these tricks and tips to make sure you are getting the best guitar for your money. Online guitar stores are a great place to find the best guitars at the lowest prices. However, before buying a guitar online, I think that you should visit your local guitar shop so that you can look at the guitars in person and up close. You will want to see how the guitar feels in you hands, how it looks, and how it sounds. Take the guitar off the wall, plug it into an amp, grab a pick and start strumming. You should also look at buying an acoustic guitar. This is the best way to find out what guitar is the right one for you.

If you are having trouble narrowing down the guitar you want to buy, here are some good recommendations. For acoustic guitars, I love Takamine guitars, Martin guitars, Ovation guitars and epiphone guitars. For electric guitars, I would check out Ibanez guitars, Fender guitars and Gibson guitars.

Once you have found the guitar that you want to buy, check out the online stores to see if you can find one at the best price. I cannot stress enough the power of online stores. The prices are almost always lower.

Remember to look at some online guitar stores to find great prices on beginner guitars.
